This digtal thing...

Ok, I swore I'd never embrace digital art. However, I've been experimenting more and more with some cool programs and have found new and exciting ways to blend my digital experiments with my traditional art. I don't believe the digital format can replace the excitement of a painting hanging on someone's wall, in a gallery or any alternative venue available for today's modern artist. Nonetheless, digital software can be an exciting tool to enchance and embellish traditional artwork; i.e. printing out the image and collaging it within a traditional painting or pasting it onto canvas and painting on and around it.

Rainy Fall Day

It's great to be spending more time at home and working on some writing and art. I've invested in some digital art software and have begun to combine my hand painted and drawn work with digital enhancements. I've done several fantasy pieces and want to move on to horror.

My novella is nearing completion as well. Today is a great day to work on it. The atmosphere is wonderful here. Rainy. Dark. Leaves are falling and the mood is delightfully dark.

I wish I had more time!!!!

LABOR DAY WEEKEND
Mood:  energetic

Wrote most of the morning. Posted several pieces of miniature art on E-Bay and a classic copy of A MID SUMMER NIGHT'S TERROR.  It's difficult to believe that little anthology was published ten years ago. Things have really changed in the publishing business since then.

Picked up some new books at Borders: A BOOK OF PAGAN PRAYER, by Ceisiwr Smith, GODDESS AFOOT and GODDESS ALIVE by Michelle Skye. In addition, my Alibris orders are starting to arrive. I need more bookcases! My research books are beginning to rest in piles throughout my home.

OVERCAST SUNDAY

Read Hal Zina Bennett's WRITING SPIRITUAL BOOKS. Lots of great resource material; publishers, online networking and spiritual friendly agents.

THEIR CHILDREN'S CRIES unheard moving along very nicely.

RAIN IN NEW ENGLAND

It's a rainy Saturday here in New England and a good day to work on my novella THEIR CHILDREN'S CRIES UNHEARD. In addition, I am in the process of outlinging a nonfiction spiritually based book.

I recently read Lynn V. Andrew's book, WRITING SPIRIT. I highly recommend it both as a writer's tool and a great source of inspiration. The book has inspired my study of Duende and the Spanish poet, Federico Garcia Lorca--http://www.duendedrama.com/duendees.htm

Andrews also awakened a new interest in the work of  Robinson Jeffers.

This dark and beautiful quote from TEAR LIFE TO PIECES is so true and relates to much of my own fiction and poetry:

"Eagle and Hawk with their great claws & hooded heads tear life to pieces

Vulture & Raven wait for death to soften it,

The poet cannot feed on this time of the world

Until he has torn it to pieces,

and himself also."

People often ask where I get my ideas and titles of research books I've used for my novels. I'll list some of my favorites below. However, please keep in mind, some of my ideas come from experience as I've studied Magickal Religions with wonderful teachers. I've also studied art with great mentors. I believe that any form of art brings us closer to the Goddess, God, The Great Spirit--whatever one cares to name the ultimate light and power of creation. I move through life with a thirst to acquire spiritual knowledge and advancement. This is something I could write volumes about...and perhaps one day I will.

I begin my list on August 23rd, 2009. Please note it is far from complete--and grows larger each week. I have a vast collection of Astrology and Tarot books. My fiction collection ranges from Classic Literature, to gritty crime and on to hardcore horror. My art library is also quite vast.

TO STIR A MAGICK CAULDRON, by Silver Ravenwolf (In 1995, when this book was published Silver was kind enough to include two of my chants. I wrote under the name of Autumn Raindancer at that time. HERBAL INVOCATION SPELL & CHANT FOR INNER STRENGTH OR WHEN FACED WITH A STRESSFUL SITUATION were my small contributions to Silver's wonderful and important book)
